General Manager - Palo Alto

Location: Palo Alto, California, United States; onsite studio leadership with daily store operations and weekend and holiday availability required

Salary: $80,000–$85,000 per year, with potential commission, quarterly bonus, geographic premium, incentive, and equity awards

What you will do

• Lead, motivate, train, and develop the studio sales team through coaching, feedback, and performance management.
• Deliver the Herman Miller Client Experience through effective product demonstrations, quoting, and sales generation.
• Develop and execute strategies to maximize store revenue and deliver the sales plan.
• Maintain studio presentation standards through visual directives and the company standards manual.
• Manage store operations, shipments, scheduling, supplies, and controllable expenses.
• Partner with Human Resources and the Regional Manager on employee relations and staffing decisions.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of retail management experience.
• Strong verbal, written, organizational, interpersonal, listening, and people-management skills.
• Ability to inspire teams to conduct effective demonstrations in a high-traffic environment.
• Integrity, business ethics, high personal performance standards, and commitment to continuous improvement.
• Financial literacy, business acumen, and experience managing budgets.
• Experience with POS systems, Microsoft Office, web navigation, and 3D rendering programs; ability to routinely move objects weighing more than 20 pounds and follow safety requirements.
