General Manager (Operations Manager)

Location: Fully onsite in Elmhurst, Illinois, United States; generally Monday through Friday during business hours, with occasional weekend or after-hours needs during the launch period. Travel to an existing hirify.global market is expected for pre-opening training.

Salary: $68,000–$76,000 per year, depending on location.

What you will do

• Open hirify.global’s first Chicago location in Elmhurst, building the team, systems, operational playbook, and member community before launch.
• Own location performance, including occupancy, member satisfaction, revenue targets, budget adherence, labor costs, and supply spending.
• Hire, lead, develop, and evaluate a team of 2–4 employees, including a Lead Operations role and Member Specialists.
• Manage member retention, tours, onboarding conversations, escalations, billing disputes, and contract discussions.
• Build and maintain operating systems, SOPs, audits, reporting routines, and root-cause solutions for recurring problems.
• Use reporting tools, scheduling systems, performance dashboards, Slack, Rippling, and other operational technology to manage the location.

Requirements

• 3+ years managing a physical location or operations environment as a general manager, location manager, or in a similar role.
• Experience leading teams, developing employees, making headcount decisions, conducting performance reviews, and handling corrective actions.
• Business ownership mindset with comfort managing occupancy, labor costs, margins, revenue, budgets, and member retention.
• Strong customer and member relationship skills, including handling escalations and difficult conversations with authority and empathy.
• Clear communication, operational judgment, root-cause problem-solving, and the ability to maintain high standards through systems and accountability.
• Ability to work fully onsite in Elmhurst, Illinois, with occasional weekend or after-hours availability during launch.

Nice to have

• Curiosity about AI and willingness to integrate AI tools into daily management work.
• Experience with Slack, Rippling, operational reporting platforms, or similar tools.
