TL;DR

Staff Engineer (Java/Spring Boot/Kafka): Design, build, and evolve core services powering enterprise-wide payment processing and money movement with an accent on distributed systems, resiliency, data integrity, and mainframe integration. Location: Remote (US-based due to benefits and compliance)

Salary: $126,490 - $171,134 per year

What you will do

  • Design scalable, reliable services using Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, RESTful APIs, and SOAP interfaces for payment orchestration.
  • Lead resolution of complex technical challenges in resiliency, data integrity, and system integration.
  • Align solutions with enterprise architecture, reliability goals, and long-term platform strategy.
  • Mentor team members, drive technical excellence, and promote Agile, DevOps, and SRE practices.
  • Collaborate across teams to broker designs, define standards, and set technology roadmaps.
  • Evaluate vendors, manage incidents, and contribute to recruiting top engineering talent.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science or equivalent + 10+ years engineering experience
  • Expertise in architecting solutions for performance, high availability, reliability, and security.
  • Deep knowledge of data/system integration patterns and large-scale project management.
  • Strong communication to articulate complex ideas to diverse audiences including executives.
  • Critical thinking, problem-solving, and independent work on strategic initiatives.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in related field.
  • Financial services industry experience.
  • Experience coaching/mentoring team members.
