Tax Director

TL;DR

Tax Director: Manage all aspects of tax for a multinational data and analytics company with operations in US/Canada/Mexico/UK/Germany/China/Japan with an accent on income tax provisions, returns, audits, sales/use taxes, and global compliance. Focus on overseeing external providers, researching complex tax issues, advising senior management, and supporting acquisitions and SOX controls.

Location: Remote from US or Canada

Salary: $200,000–$220,000 USD or $150,000–$155,000 CAD per year

What you will do

• Oversee and review year-end income tax provisions per ASC 740 and prepare quarterly estimates for bank reporting.
• Work with external providers to prepare/review federal, state, foreign income tax returns, sales/use tax returns, and partnership reporting.
• Manage tax audits, respond to agency inquiries, and perform research on income, sales/use, property, and excise taxes.
• Assist with acquisition due diligence, post-acquisition nexus, and global filings completeness.
• Collaborate with Accounting team on intercompany balances, GL reconciliations, and internal SOX controls.
• Negotiate fees with providers and prioritize critical tax processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance or related; CPA preferred.
• 5+ years recent public accounting or multinational corporate tax department experience.
• Experience leading tax for multinational with $100M+ revenue, including sales/use tax.
• Strong US GAAP/ASC 740 background and technical research skills.
• Ability to manage multiple complex activities accurately and communicate technical matters.
