Senior AWS Cloud Engineer

Location: Remote, Virginia, United States; home-based position

Salary: $81,045.75–$140,000 annually; eligible employees may receive a bonus

What you will do

• Design, implement, support, and improve cloud architecture and shared systems on AWS.
• Configure and maintain AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, and related networking components.
• Develop scripting, automation, reporting, and infrastructure-as-code processes for cloud operations.
• Optimize cloud resources for performance, reliability, and cost, including IOPS, compute, memory, and storage.
• Implement security and compliance best practices and collaborate with architecture, security, compliance, and development teams.
• Build prototypes, document system architectures and procedures, and contribute to cloud strategy and disaster recovery planning.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting AWS cloud infrastructure and Linux systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
• Expert knowledge of AWS architecture, services, security, compliance, pricing, and utilization models.
• Strong scripting experience with AWS CLI or SDKs, plus infrastructure-as-code experience with CloudFormation or Terraform.
• Experience with Linux and Windows systems, networking fundamentals, source control, automated deployments, containers, monitoring, and performance tuning.
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or equivalent is desired; successful completion of a background check is required.

Nice to have

• Strong experience with Git source control tools and commands.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, CloudWatch, New Relic, and multi-Availability Zone or multi-Region disaster recovery solutions.
• Ability to work independently, adapt to changing IT environments, and communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
