What you will do

• Architect and scale the hirify.global SMS framework to manage the unique risks of autonomous technology development and operations.
• Manage the Safety Review Board (SRB) to ensure visibility of enterprise safety risks and support decision-making for driverless product releases.
• Lead the enterprise-wide Safety Concern Reporting (SCR) program, fostering a "just culture" for reporting risks.
• Define and oversee methodologies for identifying, evaluating, and mitigating organizational, product, and operations safety risks.
• Provide strategic direction to the Fleet Safety organization to ensure DOT/FMCSA compliance and vehicle inspection conformity.
• Mentor a high-performing team and collaborate with Legal, HR, Finance, and Engineering to integrate safety risks into corporate policies.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience developing or managing a comprehensive Safety Management System (SMS) in safety-critical transportation (e.g., AV, Aviation, Rail, Automotive).
• 5+ years of experience leading diverse safety teams through other managers.
• Demonstrated mastery of applied Safety Risk Management (SRM) methodologies at an enterprise level.
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Safety Management, or a related technical discipline.
• Deep understanding of safety-critical systems and standards such as FMVSS, ISO, ICAO, and AVSC.
• Must be based in or be able to work hybrid in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (at least 3 days per week in office).

Nice to have

• Advanced Degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in Safety Engineering, Human Factors, or Safety Management.
• Professional Certification such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Director of Safety (CDS).
• Direct experience with the risk management challenges of autonomous vehicle technology or complex robotics.
