TL;DR

Research Science Intern (AI): Developing and optimizing ad delivery and measurement systems within the Vector AI team with an accent on machine learning, optimization, and causal inference. Focus on designing experiments for auction dynamics, building scalable bidding models, and integrating research into production systems.

Location: Mountain View, CA, USA. Relocation support is not available.

What you will do

• Design and run experiments to improve ad performance, efficiency, and measurement quality.
• Develop scalable models and algorithms targeting bidding strategy, auction dynamics, and user value estimation.
• Partner with engineering to bring research ideas into production systems.
• Analyze large datasets using advanced statistical and machine learning methods.
• Communicate findings clearly to a range of technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• Academic background in machine learning, optimization, statistics, or econometrics.
• Fluency working with large datasets using tools such as Python, R, SQL, or Spark.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• A track record of rigorous, high-quality research.
• Must be based in or able to work from Mountain View, CA.
• English: Professional working proficiency required.

Nice to have

• Experience or coursework in advertising, marketplaces, or recommendation systems.
• Familiarity with causal inference methods such as A/B testing or uplift modeling.
• Genuine curiosity about applied research and drive to see ideas through to impact.
