Senior Data Scientist (AI)

Senior Data Scientist (AI/ML): Developing AI-enabled capabilities for the Joint Logistics Enterprise to modernize the Joint Logistics Common Operating Picture with an accent on integrating AI/ML into DoD data feeds and building robust ingestion pipelines. Location: Tampa, FL (MacDill AFB). Active Secret security clearance is required.

What you will do

• Modernize the Joint Logistics Common Operating Picture by integrating AI/ML capabilities into dozens of automated and manual DoD data feeds.
• Identify the intersection between strategic business value and achievable technical work within the logistics domain.
• Design and implement robust data ingestion and cleaning pipelines to ensure high-quality inputs for AI/ML models.
• Develop applications and data visualizations to communicate complex insights to non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaborate with client leadership regarding enterprise values, project direction, and mission objectives.
• Serve as a technical ambassador for executive DoD leadership to sponsor and grow data literacy.

Requirements

• Active Secret security clearance is required.
• 8+ years of professional experience in data science, analytics, or a related technical field.
• Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline (Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related STEM field).
• Proficiency in functional programming languages such as Python, R, or Scala.
• Strong experience with database languages, specifically SQL.
• Ability to travel up to 10% as required by the mission.

Nice to have

• Ph.D. in a quantitative discipline.
• Experience developing within cloud-based platforms (AWS, Azure, or GovCloud).
• Experience with large-scale data processing tools and distributed computing frameworks (Spark, Databricks).
• Advanced experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, PowerBI, or custom D3.js).
• Familiarity with DoD logistics data or USCENTCOM mission sets.
