Youth Program Specialist

TL;DR

Youth Program Specialist: Serve as central contact for refugee youth providing mentoring, case management, and support services with an accent on academics, emotional regulation, cultural identity, and social expansion. Focus on conducting home visits, facilitating caregiver involvement, screening for mental health, and connecting to resources.

Location: Dallas, TX USA (onsite office with regular home visits including evenings)

Compensation: $22.88 - $24.00 per hour

What you will do

• Visit caseload of 12-15 refugee youth in homes (evenings during school year) for mentoring, advocacy, and case management.
• Conduct intake assessments, develop individualized service plans, and track progress in academics, attendance, and goals.
• Facilitate caregiver involvement in education, screen for emotional distress, and refer to mental health services.
• Connect clients to resources like tutoring, extracurriculars, food security, and immigration support; occasionally provide homework help or transport.
• Maintain documentation, case notes, and compliance with agency policies.
• Participate in team meetings and collaborate across departments and external partners.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, education, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience
• Fluent in English (spoken and written); bilingual in client languages (Dari, Pashto, Arabic, Spanish, Swahili) a plus
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle with insurance, and ability to travel for home visits (including evenings/Saturdays)
• Well-organized self-starter able to manage time and prioritize duties
