TL;DR

Controller (Fintech): Establishing and owning the entire finance function for a crypto infrastructure startup with an accent on GAAP compliance, internal controls, and strategic financial modeling. Location: Hybrid (3 days in-office in New York); not remote-eligible

Salary: $180,000–$235,000

What you will do

• Manage the full accounting cycle, including journal entries, reconciliations, monthly/quarterly/year-end close, and board reporting.
• Build the internal control environment from scratch, focusing on segregation of duties, approval workflows, and GAAP compliance.
• Oversee the tax and compliance calendar, cash flow forecasting, bank management, 409A processes, and equity issuances.
• Support leadership with financial modeling, budgeting, scenario analysis, and fundraising diligence.
• Configure and maintain the accounting tech stack, integrating AI meaningfully across the function.

Requirements

• 6–10 years of finance and accounting experience, ideally a mix of Big 4/mid-tier public accounting and in-house startup experience.
• CPA certification strongly preferred.
• Experience running a finance function independently as a solo operator.
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to New York.
• Daily power user of AI tools for modeling, automation, research, and documentation.
• Interest or experience in crypto, digital assets, or Web3 accounting.
