TL;DR

Controller (Fintech): Building and leading the financial foundation of a high-growth DeFi firm with an accent on institutional standards, GAAP compliance, and AI-driven automation. Focus on establishing end-to-end accounting cycles, managing treasury and equity administration, and integrating a scalable finance tech stack.

Location: Must be based in or be able to relocate to New York City (Hybrid - 3 days per week)

What you will do

• Own the full accounting cycle, including journal entries, reconciliations, and period-end close processes.
• Produce accurate financial statements, board-level reporting, and regular updates for leadership.
• Design and implement a robust internal control environment to ensure GAAP compliance and audit readiness.
• Manage treasury, cash flow forecasting, tax calendars, and equity administration, including 409A processes.
• Partner with leadership on budgeting, scenario analysis, and financial diligence for future fundraising rounds.
• Build and configure a scalable accounting tech stack using AI tools to increase automation and accuracy.

Requirements

• 6–10 years of finance and accounting experience, preferably with a mix of Big 4 and startup backgrounds.
• CPA designation is highly preferred.
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to New York City.
• Proven ability to run a finance or accounting function autonomously as a solo lead.
• Demonstrated experience as an AI power user to optimize financial modeling and research.
• Genuine interest in crypto, digital assets, or Web3 accounting.
