Principal Software Engineer - Core Infrastructure (Python/C++)

Location: Newton, Massachusetts, United States; minimum four days per week onsite

Salary: $152,800–$229,200 USD per year, plus eligibility for the hirify.global Incentive Plan.

hirify.global develops healthcare technologies used to diagnose and treat medical conditions, including the Affera Prism Mapping System for cardiac electrophysiology.

What you will do

• Lead architecture for the Prism Mapping platform’s runtime, IPC, device communication, system services, and operational infrastructure.
• Define multi-release technical direction as the platform expands to support new clinical capabilities, hardware, and regulatory expectations.
• Design and deliver major subsystems and cross-cutting infrastructure with strong reliability, observability, performance, and safety requirements.
• Drive alignment across software, systems, quality, product, and other engineering functions.
• Establish software design patterns, engineering standards, development practices, and technical roadmaps.
• Mentor engineers across teams and communicate complex architectural tradeoffs, risks, and recommendations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with at least 7 years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree with at least 5 years, or a PhD with at least 3 years.
• Deep expertise in Python, C++, Linux systems programming, real-time or near-real-time architecture, and complex multi-component systems.
• Experience architecting platform-level software and delivering real-time, device-integrated, or networked systems.
• Experience leading complex cross-functional technical initiatives and influencing decisions across multiple teams.
• Experience in regulated environments is preferred; the role requires work in a medical device setting.
• U.S. work authorization is required; sponsorship is available for Principal-level roles and above when specialized expertise meets business needs.

• Experience defining architecture, standards, or technical direction across multiple components or teams.
• Experience solving ambiguous, high-impact technical problems spanning multiple domains or subsystems.
• Experience advancing the use of AI tools to improve engineering productivity and quality.
