Principal AI Engineer

Location: Mississauga, Canada; hybrid work requires residing within commutable distance of the specified office

Salary: CAD 191,700–213,000 per year, plus bonus and benefits.

What you will do

• Set the technical vision and reference architecture for agentic AI across applications.
• Define standards for reasoning loops, tool use and function calling, memory, safety, and interoperability.
• Build and govern reusable platform components including model brokers, multi-model routing, orchestration services, evaluation harnesses, prompt stores, and telemetry.
• Identify and prioritize AI use cases, transition prototypes into secure and observable production solutions, and establish measurable business outcomes.
• Develop evaluation frameworks for LLM and agentic systems, including testing methodologies, safety assessments, quality metrics, and business dashboards.
• Mentor engineers, lead knowledge sharing, conduct peer reviews, and establish engineering best practices.

Requirements

• Proven leadership shipping agentic AI at scale across multiple products.
• Hands-on expertise with Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Document Intelligence, Anthropic Claude Cowork, and Claude Code.
• Advanced Python and Java expertise in production systems, including testing, packaging, and performance profiling.
• Experience extending Anthropic, LangChain, and Foundry agent frameworks, plus RAG and agent data pipelines involving OCR/NER, chunking, embeddings, vector stores, and data quality.
• Knowledge of model broker patterns, multi-model routing, model serving, cost and performance optimization, relational databases, and monitoring tools such as AppDynamics, Kibana, and OpenTelemetry.
• BSc or BA in Computer Science or a related field.

Nice to have

• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Istio, AWS or Azure cloud services, service-oriented architecture, and on-call support for production systems.
