Software Engineer III – Developer Platform & AI Enablement

Location: Office location or remote in the USA; willingness and ability to travel as needed; live facilitation is required both remotely and in person.

Estimated salary: $102,000–$136,000 per year.

What you will do

• Analyze, design, program, debug, test, document, release, and support developer-platform capabilities end to end.
• Author technical designs and architectural artifacts, review peer designs, and participate in planning, estimation, and Agile/Scrum design spikes.
• Develop, version, and document reusable GitHub Actions, composite actions, Terraform modules, and other infrastructure-as-code components.
• Build and operate MCP servers over stdio and remote/HTTP transports, including tool schemas, transport selection, and authentication.
• Extend the internal agent platform, SDK, APIs, local-model routing, AI configuration artifacts, and developer-facing delivery-metrics pipeline.
• Drive defects and blockers to resolution, write automated tests and system-test specifications, maintain documentation, facilitate AI in Automation sessions, and mentor or onboard team members as needed.

Requirements

• BS or MS degree in Computer Science.
• 3–5 years of software development experience.
• Experience building internal tooling for other engineers and explaining why a tool was or was not adopted.
• Daily use of agentic coding tools such as Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor, or similar.
• Direct experience authoring reusable GitHub Actions or composite actions, or equivalent CI consumed by other people.
• Direct experience authoring infrastructure as code.
• Technical writing that other engineers act on, including design documents, ADRs, runbooks, or documentation that can be provided.
• Willingness to teach live and unscripted, including co-facilitating recorded remote sessions and full-day in-person workshops.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team across multiple overlapping projects, with willingness and ability to travel as needed.

Nice to have

• Experience measuring non-deterministic systems using an evaluation harness, benchmark, or rubric.
• Experience building and operating MCP servers, including remote/HTTP transports and authentication.
• Comfort deploying and debugging on AWS.
• An agent configuration artifact used by another engineer, such as a skill, subagent, AGENTS.md file, or MCP tool.
• Experience with local or open-weight inference, including Ollama, llama.cpp, MLX, quantization tradeoffs, context and KV-cache sizing, and OpenAI-compatible shims.
• Experience measuring developer outcomes through adoption instrumentation, DORA-style delivery metrics, and data plumbing for organizational data.
• Experience with healthcare supply chains, EDI documents, and related standards.
