TL;DR
Asset Management - Baggage Technician (Mechanical Fitter) (Baggage Handling Systems): Maintaining and operating Dublin Airport’s baggage handling systems, control room, conveyors, sortation units, PLCs, SCADA, HMI systems, and EDS X-ray machines with an accent on planned, reactive, and emergency maintenance. Focus on investigating baggage-flow stoppages, restoring equipment uptime, recording maintenance through CMMS, and supporting safe 24/7 airport operations.

Location: Dublin, Co. Dublin, Ireland. On-site, shift-based work with 12-hour shifts across a 4-week cycle, including 24/7 coverage, out-of-hours call-ins, and remote technical support when required.

What you will do

  • Monitor and control Dublin Airport’s baggage handling systems through SCADA and other control systems.
  • Investigate root causes of jams and stoppages across conveyor, automated sortation, and baggage control systems.
  • Perform planned, reactive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on baggage handling and related airport assets.
  • Use CMMS to create and complete maintenance workflows, record timecards, document repairs, and support asset performance metrics.
  • Operate engineering equipment safely, maintain clean asset areas, and support system reliability and continuous improvement projects.
  • Participate in safety initiatives, audits, toolbox talks, standards reviews, and cross-skilling activities.

Requirements

  • Recognized Mechanical Fitting trade qualification, such as a National Craft Certificate or Standards Based Apprenticeship.
  • Good understanding of electrical or mechanical system design, operation, fault finding, and maintenance.
  • Proficiency with IT tools, Microsoft Office, and computerized maintenance systems.
  • Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and teamwork skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Full, clean driving license and willingness to work rotating 24/7 shifts.
  • Commitment to health and safety standards and Dublin Airport Asset Management requirements.

Nice to have

  • Experience in highly regulated or safety-critical environments.
  • Experience with PLC and LV control systems and SCADA systems.
