TL;DR

Senior Tax Compliance Accountant (Finance): Managing multi-state tax compliance for payroll and sales/use tax within a consulting and engineering environment with an accent on regulatory filings and jurisdictional accuracy. Location: Must be based in the United States (Remote, Hybrid, or Onsite in Minneapolis, MN)

Salary: $92,700 - $106,700 per year

Medium-sized consulting and engineering company serving sectors including energy, mining, transportation, manufacturing, and construction.

What you will do

  • Prepare and file multi-state sales and use tax returns while monitoring nexus and registration requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and multi-state payroll tax filings, including 941 and 940.
  • Reconcile sales and payroll tax accounts to ensure timely and accurate remittance.
  • Manage tax notices, audits, and correspondence with state agencies.
  • Oversee state tax portals, registrations, and account maintenance.
  • Partner with ADP and other payroll providers to review filings and ensure accurate reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a consulting environment.
  • Experience managing high-volume multi-state payroll or sales/use tax compliance.
  • Proficiency with accounting and payroll systems such as Deltek Vantagepoint and ADP.
  • Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with complex state and local tax filings.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (E-Verify).
