What you will do

• Provide timely legal advice on pre-broadcast content, ensuring compliance with media law and regulations.
• Review reports, breaking news, packages, and live content under tight deadlines to mitigate legal and reputational risks.
• Support story development and investigations with solutions-focused guidance.
• Handle post-broadcast complaints, litigation, and data protection enquiries.
• Develop internal policies, guidance, and deliver legal training for editorial staff.
• Build relationships across teams as a trusted adviser in a fast-paced newsroom.

Requirements

• Qualified Solicitor or Barrister with minimum 3 years post-qualification experience in media law and litigation.
• Excellent knowledge of media law including libel, privacy, data protection, copyright, contempt of court, reporting restrictions, and Ofcom Broadcasting Code.
• Strong communication, interpersonal skills, attention to detail, sound judgment.
• Ability to assess legal risk in real-time and deliver clear guidance to journalists and editors.
• Team player with strong editorial integrity.
