TL;DR

Staff Software Engineer (AI): Building and optimizing an internal AI tooling ecosystem and Agentic Development layer with an accent on Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, security controls, and plugin architecture. Focus on designing scalable AI-based development workflows, implementing governance models, and leading the Claude rollout for engineering teams.

Location: Hybrid (Hub Based). Must be based in or near Bristol, Glasgow, or London (office attendance at least once a week).

Salary: £80,000 – £100,000

What you will do

• Define the roadmap and technical vision for the internal AI developer product.
• Architect and implement MCP servers, security controls, and the plugin ecosystem.
• Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, fostering a high-performance culture.
• Collaborate with Infosec and product managers to align AI strategy with business goals.
• Assess and recommend cutting-edge AI frameworks to enhance development efficiency.
• Contribute to the Agentic Development Community of Practice across the organization.

Requirements

• Extensive professional experience in software development and leading complex projects.
• Expertise in designing scalable architectures, specifically using TypeScript.
• Proven experience with LLM integration, prompt engineering, and AI tools like Claude Code.
• Proficiency in GCP, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD automation.
• Strong command of data modeling and security governance for AI tools.
• Unable to offer sponsorship for this role.
