Technical Consultant (Mission Critical & Industrials)

TL;DR

Technical Consultant (Mission Critical & Industrials): Function as subject matter expert on complex electrical power systems projects with an accent on design reviews, QA/QC, standards implementation, and mentoring engineers. Focus on performing detailed power system studies, developing cost estimates, leading proposals, and providing technical leadership in high-voltage transmission and distribution.

Location: Remote or in-office (Lakewood, CO). Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Typical travel: 15–35%.

Salary: $100,000 - $175,000 / year (based on Denver, Colorado labor market).

What you will do

• Act as subject matter expert on complex projects, working with directors and program managers on electrical power systems design including one-lines, schematics, SCADA, grounding, and equipment specs.
• Perform or review power system studies like short circuit, load flow, relay coordination, arc flash, and harmonics using tools like ETAP or PowerFactory.
• Lead QA/QC, create and enforce technical standards, and provide guidance on substation engineering.
• Develop proposals by interpreting RFPs, estimating costs, and writing technical content.
• Train, coach, and mentor engineers; attend conferences and contribute to industry content.
• Assist business development by meeting clients and showcasing capabilities; perform field inspections when needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from accredited institution.
• 7+ years relevant engineering or field experience; PE licensure required.
• Deep experience with high voltage power systems required.
• Currently authorized to work in the United States full-time.
• Proficiency with PowerFactory, ETAP, SKM, Milsoft, SEL Relaying, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office.
• Effective written and oral communication skills; interest in training and mentoring.

• Experience with field inspection, testing, and construction supervision.
