What you will do

• Act as the primary legal advisor to Founders and the Senior Leadership Team on commercial, corporate, regulatory, and people matters.
• Own and evolve public-facing terms, including Privacy Policy, Terms of Use (AI provisions), and Cookie Policy across US, EU, UK, and APAC.
• Lead complex negotiations with regulated buyers in Government, Defence, Education, and Financial Services.
• Establish a scalable vendor and procurement review process with a focus on data protection and AI usage.
• Support the operational launch and ongoing management of the US entity, including IP and cross-border flows.
• Oversee legal aspects of ISO certification maintenance and SOC 2 implementation.

Requirements

• Qualified lawyer with strong in-house experience at a fast-growing international SaaS business.
• Proven track record in contracting with regulated sectors (Government, Defence, Finance).
• Deep expertise in international privacy laws, including GDPR, UK GDPR, and CCPA/CPRA.
• Experience supporting operations and international expansion across US, EU, UK, and APAC.
• Practical experience working in ISO certified environments and with SOC 2 implementation.
• Core collaboration time must be aligned to UK business hours.
• English: C1+ required for high-level communication across multiple jurisdictions.

Nice to have

• Background in cybersecurity, developer tools, or edtech.
• Familiarity with the EU AI Act, US state AI laws, and emerging AI customer clauses.
• Prior experience as the first or second legal hire in a scaling company.
• Experience with public sector tendering or defence contracting.
