TL;DR
Benefits Manager: Lead and manage comprehensive benefits programs for 4,000+ employees and 1,500 retirees, including health, welfare, retirement plans, compliance, and vendor relationships with an accent on administration, regulatory filings, and strategic analysis. Focus on overseeing 401(k) and pension plans, open enrollment, leave management, committee governance, and total rewards strategies.
Onsite in De Soto, KS, USA with hybrid model (remote one day per week).

What you will do
- Oversee administration of 401(k) plans, pension plans, deferred compensation, and retiree benefits, including recordkeeping and committee chairperson duties.
- Manage health and welfare programs, open enrollment, leave administration, and labor negotiations for union benefits.
- Lead vendor relationships, contract negotiations, and performance monitoring for benefits partners.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state laws (ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA), handle filings like 5500 and 1095 forms, and conduct audits.
- Analyze benefits data, trends, and costs; present recommendations to senior management.
- Lead and mentor a team of benefits professionals, develop communications, and support employees/retirees.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field
- 8+ years in benefits administration (health, welfare, retirement), including 5500/1095 filings, audits, and enrollment systems
- 5+ years in multi-site environment
- Experience managing vendors, brokers, and investment partners
- Excellent communication skills to explain complex benefits to diverse audiences
- Proficiency in Excel and strong analytical skills
- Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities

- 5+ years managerial experience
- Experience in retirement/pension administration and committee governance
- Working with union sites and contracts
