TL;DR
VP, Merchant Risk Underwriting (Fintech): Designing merchant underwriting strategies and managing overall risk exposure with an accent on credit, fraud, and reputational risk. Focus on expanding decisioning capabilities through identity verification, KYB/KYC, and advanced data analytics using SAS, SQL, and Python.
Location: Hybrid (Charlotte, NC). Must be based in the US and able to commute to a company Hub for in-person activities.
Salary: $135,000 - $230,000 Annual

What you will do
- Design and monitor SMB merchant underwriting strategies focusing on identity verification and fraud controls.
- Analyze large datasets to identify emerging trends and track champion/challenger strategy performance.
- Evaluate and deploy new underwriting technologies, firmographic tools, and API integrations.
- Conduct industry reviews and monitor portfolio performance in collaboration with Portfolio Credit Managers.
- Deliver executive presentations on portfolio risk themes and recommended actions to senior leadership and clients.
- Manage operational controls to ensure alignment with Internal Audit and Model Risk Management (MRM).
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with 5+ years in a strategic analytical role, or 10+ years in a commercial Credit/Risk role.
- 5+ years of experience in credit risk or fraud strategy development.
- Proficient in SAS, SQL, and Python programming for analyzing complex datasets.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required; no sponsorship is provided.
- Ability and flexibility to travel for business as required.
Nice to have
- Expertise in consumer and commercial credit lending lifecycles and KYB/KYC identity solutions.
- Familiarity with Model Risk Management (MRM) frameworks and internal control governance.
- Master’s Degree or MBA with an advanced analytic focus.
- Experience partnering with offshore teams.
