TL;DR
Technical Sales Specialist (Specialty Chemicals): Develop and execute annual sales plans for specialty chemicals related to natural gas processing, heat transfer fluids, and adsorbents with an accent on product support, system optimizations, and customer inquiries. Focus on leading customer opportunities, RFPs, negotiating pricing, and organizing training seminars.
Location: Edmonton, AB or Calgary, AB, Canada. Regular field travel required within Northern Alberta and British Columbia (65-75%).

What you will do
- Provide product support, system optimizations, on-site troubleshooting, and handle customer inquiries with account managers and sales team.
- Work with suppliers for product and application development, track customer sample data, and follow up on recommendations.
- Prepare value-add service reports, meet internal KPIs, and oversee technical literature and sales team training.
- Lead customer opportunities and RFPs for specialty products, negotiate pricing, develop marketing strategies, and submit proposals.
- Organize and lead customer training seminars and develop opportunities with local engineering firms.
- Provide weekly activity reports to Sales Manager.
Requirements
- 2-3 years of experience in technical sales (preferred but not required).
- Post-secondary training in chemical science, chemical, mechanical, or petroleum engineering (preferred but not required).
- Excellent people skills, good oral and written communication, problem-solving ability.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong organizational skills, competitive, creative, ability to motivate and delegate.
