TL;DR

Legal Counsel (IoT): Managing complex legal agreements and negotiations for a global IoT leader with an accent on technology licensing, privacy, and intellectual property. Focus on integrating legal, technical, and business considerations to support global expansion and product development.

Location: Must be based in Ontario, Canada (Oakville, Toronto, or Waterloo)

Salary: $160,000 - $210,000 CAD

What you will do

  • Manage complex legal agreements including end-user, distribution, OEM, and wireless carrier contracts.
  • Support global negotiations with resellers, customers, OEMs, and government entities.
  • Advise on legal strategies for electronic contracting and dynamic product development.
  • Manage risk regarding product safety, cybersecurity, and non-practicing entities.
  • Provide legal support for AI, big data, and IoT industry-wide dynamics.
  • Support M&A activities, intellectual property litigation, and global market entry.

Requirements

  • License to practice in Ontario and membership in the Law Society of Ontario.
  • 5-8 years of experience in a law firm or in-house legal department.
  • Experience negotiating with multi-national regulated organizations and government entities.
  • Familiarity with AI, business intelligence, data analytics, and data privacy laws.
  • Background in technology-focused joint ventures, mergers, and acquisitions.
  • Strong project management and analytical skills.

  • Exposure to AI tools for legal research and process design.
  • Affinity for software, programming, and computing technology.
