What you will do

• Provide coaching, mentoring, and training to Underwriters on processes, guidelines, and the Encompass system.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for underwriter questions and handle 2nd level mortgage reviews and complex scenarios.
• Manage the loan pipeline to ensure SLAs are met and oversee load balancing and priority reviews.
• Conduct weekly spot reviews and report quality findings to the VP of Underwriting.
• Handle administrative duties including reviewing timecards, approving PTO, and interviewing prospective hires.
• Conduct welcome calls for new branches and maintain communication with existing branches.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• DE, SAR, and LAPP certifications are required.
• 5+ years of Mortgage Underwriting experience (FHA, VA, and Conventional) with agency guideline knowledge.
• 5+ years of underwriting supervisory experience.
• Experience with Encompass LOS.
• Strong knowledge of ATR/QM, compliance, and disclosure requirements.
