Evening Shift Wind Technician

TL;DR

Evening Shift Wind Technician: Assist in performance of wind turbine mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical component maintenance with an accent on safe operations, troubleshooting, and site support. Focus on repairing malfunctions, documenting work, training juniors, and leading crews on variable pitch turbines.

Location: Onsite in Mojave, California, United States. Clearway will not sponsor nonimmigrant visas (H-1B, TN, E-3, etc.).

Salary: $45,000 - $90,000 USD (depending on level)

What you will do

• Follow safety procedures and maintain safe working environment while assisting in wind turbine mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical maintenance.
• Document work, parts, and time using computer-based reporting; troubleshoot and repair SCADA systems.
• Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on variable pitch/speed turbines (Levels II/III).
• Perform repairs, replacements, read schematics, use test equipment, and lead crews as needed (Levels II/III).
• Train lower-level technicians, perform LOTO, balance of plant work, and support site operations with minimal supervision.
• Work flexible on-call schedule including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED (or obtain within 6 months); valid driver's license and good driving record.
• Able to climb towers up to 300 feet unassisted, work in confined spaces and adverse weather.
• Mechanical aptitude, basic electrical knowledge, hand tool proficiency; ability to read schematics preferred.
• Level II: Associate’s degree + 6 months turbine exp or HS + 1 year; in-depth turbine component knowledge.
• Level III: Associate’s + 2 years or HS + 3 years turbine experience.
• Meet Qualified Electrical Worker program requirements; able to work without direct supervision.

Nice to have

• Previous experience in SAP.
• Ability to read schematics and wiring diagrams.
