CPU Core Physical Design Engineer

Location: Folsom, California, United States; hybrid work model with time split between the hirify.global site and off-site

What you will do

• Implement custom CPU physical designs from RTL through GDS, creating manufacturing-ready design databases.
• Run synthesis, floor planning, place and route, clock tree synthesis, static timing analysis, power distribution, reliability, and power and noise analysis.
• Perform formal equivalence, timing, reliability, power integrity, layout, electrical rule, and structural design verification and signoff.
• Analyze design results and recommend improvements to CPU microarchitectures in collaboration with logic, circuit, architecture, and design automation teams.
• Work with EDA vendors to enhance tools and develop physical design methodologies and flow automation.
• Optimize CPU power, frequency, and area while supporting high-speed, low-power synthesizable designs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, computer science, electrical/electronic engineering, or a related STEM field with 2+ years of experience, or a master’s degree with 1+ years of experience.
• 1+ year of experience in VLSI circuit design and synthesis.
• 1+ year of experience in static timing analysis.
• 1+ year of experience in low-power design.
• Strong problem-solving skills and tolerance of ambiguity.

Nice to have

• Experience with x86 CPU architecture.
• Programming experience with Tcl, Perl, or Python.
