Industrial Engineering Manager (Automotive)

TL;DR

Industrial Engineering Manager (Automotive): Lead an IE team for Manufacturing Excellence, partnering across organizations to achieve BPD objectives and SPQRCE metrics through IE processes, tools, and coaching. Focus on developing next-generation performance reporting tools, solving complex operational problems, and driving data-driven improvements in budgets, scorecards, and benchmarking.

Location: Hybrid - on-site minimum 3 days per week at GM Global Technical Center in Warren, MI, United States. GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship (H-1B, TN, STEM OPT, etc.). Do not apply if sponsorship is needed now or in the future.

What you will do

• Partner with Manufacturing Excellence Leadership to drive improvements in Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environmental metrics.
• Own Global Workbook/Power BI data analysis and reporting for accurate, timely plant and enterprise decision-making across North America.
• Lead development of jobs and hours for NA Manufacturing budgets and long-term plans, delivering actionable insights.
• Transition to automated performance publications like Mfg Scorecards and dashboards, with governance and global alignment.
• Conduct operational performance analysis including required-to-run, absenteeism, payroll reconciliation, and special projects.
• Support benchmarking, glidepaths for Hours per Unit, financial deep-dives, and enterprise systems like GWB 2.0 and APS.
• Leverage IE tools (APS, STDS, GWB, ergonomics, etc.) for smart targets, insights, coaching, and team development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering or equivalent operations experience.
• 10+ years in automotive manufacturing industry.
• 5+ years in Industrial Engineering and/or manufacturing operations leadership (people leader).
• Proficiency in IE tools: APS, STDS, GWB, TBIA, line balance, waste elimination/CIP, ergonomics, cost studies.
• In-depth knowledge of IE metrics (BEC, MPH, %VA, %OS, etc.) and their impact on MEI and scorecards.
• Demonstrated results in problem-solving, change management, communication, organization, and MS Office proficiency.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in engineering/business administration.
• Advanced data analytics and dashboard experience (Power BI), data governance, and AI applications.
