TL;DR

Account Director (Automotive Sales): Managing end-to-end commercial relationships with Tier 1 corporate customers and driving new business acquisition with an accent on revenue growth, gross retention, and strategic upselling. Focus on expanding the pipeline through personal networks and navigating complex organizational landscapes to close high-value renewals and expansion deals.

Location: Hybrid role based in Tokyo, Japan

What you will do

  • Execute account strategies to achieve and exceed growth, gross retention, and net retention targets.
  • Drive net new revenue, renewals, pilots, and expansion opportunities within Tier 1 accounts.
  • Operate at senior executive levels to influence strategic decisions and maintain full renewal responsibility for designated accounts.
  • Partner with Customer Success and Strategic Business Development to optimize customer outcomes and progress strategic initiatives.
  • Lead and coach account teams to align sales approach and value propositions.
  • Produce and communicate clear account reports covering performance metrics, forecasts, and pipeline activity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • 7–10 years’ experience in business development, account management, or equivalent commercial support roles.
  • Proven track record of winning new business and achieving high retention targets.
  • Strong consultative selling mindset with the ability to engage confidently at the senior management level.
  • Must be based in Tokyo, Japan (Hybrid work format)
