TL;DR
Claims Examiner (1st Party Property): Adjudicates and resolves moderate 1st Party commercial property claims with an accent on coverage review, in-depth investigations, and accurate loss adjustment. Focus on managing business income losses, documenting claims files, and applying best practices to control expenses and exposure.
Location: Hybrid in Chicago, Scottsdale, Connecticut, Boston, or New York - Manhattan (requires two days in office weekly)
Salary: $70-$85k

What you will do
- Adjust and resolve moderate 1st Party commercial property claims across all phases
- Review and assess coverage for losses and complete full investigations
- Manage smaller business income losses and period of restoration
- Document claim files with relevant information, correspondence, and notes in compliance with policies
- Assess reserves for indemnity and expense payments
- Draft coverage letters, including reservations of rights and denials
- Identify fraudulent claims and collaborate with special investigations unit
- Participate in claims projects as needed
Requirements
- 1+ years of 1st Party Commercial claims handling experience
- Advanced knowledge of claims analysis and adjusting practices
- In-depth knowledge of claims documentation standards
- Proven ability to negotiate settlement of moderate to complex claims
- Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills
- Active insurance adjuster’s license preferred
- B.A./B.S. degree from accredited college or university preferred
