Technical Writer / Documentation Specialist (Cybersecurity)

Technical Writer / Documentation Specialist (Cybersecurity): Developing and maintaining technical documentation and system security plans for the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) with an accent on federal compliance and cybersecurity processes. What you will do

• Develop, edit, and maintain technical documentation including SOPs, runbooks, system security plans (SSPs), policies, and procedures.
• Document cybersecurity processes across SOC, NOC, vulnerability management, and engineering teams.
• Create and maintain documentation supporting NIST RMF, FISMA, and federal compliance requirements.
• Support the development of ATO packages, POA&Ms, and audit artifacts.
• Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and leadership to translate technical information into clear documentation.
• Ensure consistency, accuracy, and version control while maintaining document repositories.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English, IT, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• 3–7+ years of experience in technical writing or documentation support within IT or cybersecurity environments.
• Experience supporting large-scale enterprise environments of high complexity or criticality.
• Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
• Role-appropriate certifications demonstrating competency in technical writing, IT, or cybersecurity (e.g., CPTC).

Nice to have

• CompTIA Security+ certification.
• CISSP certification (preferred for senior-level candidates).
