TL;DR

Director, Category (Networking & Security): Leading the overall performance and strategic direction of the Networking and Security category with an accent on P&L accountability, vendor relations, and digital transformation. Focus on driving profitable growth, optimizing go-to-market execution via the Xvantage platform, and managing executive-level partner relationships.

Location: Buffalo, NY, United States. Position requires significant travel, up to 50%.

Salary: $155,700 - $272,500 per year

What you will do

  • Own end-to-end category performance, including P&L accountability, revenue growth, and margin expansion.
  • Develop and execute category strategies leveraging data insights and platform capabilities.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team to execute vendor strategies aligned with company priorities.
  • Establish and maintain executive-level relationships with vendor C-suite and channel partners.
  • Drive digital transformation by integrating scalable programs that enhance partner engagement via the Xvantage platform.
  • Monitor IT distribution trends, hybrid cloud adoption, and edge computing to identify new revenue opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field (MBA preferred).
  • 8+ years of leadership experience in vendor management, category management, or market development in tech distribution or IT services.
  • Proven ability to own P&L performance and deliver measurable vendor outcomes.
  • Executive management experience working directly with vendor C-suite and partner decision-makers.
  • Extensive technical aptitude and knowledge of channels, partner ecosystems, and emerging IT trends.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.
