Privacy Governance Lead (AI): Set the strategy and roadmap for privacy governance framework, including policies, standards, and controls mapping to GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and global privacy regimes with an accent on documentation lifecycle, governance forums, and controls testing. Focus on partnering with legal for regulator engagement, driving privacy training, and representing governance in audit reporting.

Location: Hybrid from New York City, San Francisco, or Washington, DC offices (at least 3 days a week). We sponsor visas with reasonable effort.

Salary: $270,000 - $345,000 USD

What you will do

• Set strategy and roadmap for privacy governance framework, policies, standards, and controls for global privacy laws.
• Own end-to-end privacy documentation lifecycle including DPIAs, Records of Processing, and Transfer Impact Assessments.
• Establish governance forums, approval workflows, and chair high-risk decision resolutions.
• Define and run privacy controls testing program, presenting results to leadership.
• Partner with Privacy Legal on emerging laws, regulator engagement, and training strategy.
• Represent privacy governance in internal audits, risk forums, and build the team.

Requirements

• Deep knowledge of GDPR and US state privacy regime (CCPA/CPRA), translating to operational controls.
• Track record building/scaling privacy governance programs: policies, DPIAs, ROPAs, forums.
• Strong written communication for policies, reporting, and practical guidance.
• Comfort with cross-functional decisions across legal, technical, operational boundaries.
• Privacy certification (CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPM) or equivalent expertise.

Nice to have

• Senior leadership in privacy governance at tech company with novel data processing (AI/ML).
• Experience engaging EU regulators (Irish DPC) on audits/inquiries.
• AI-specific privacy: training data, model memorization, output filtering.
• Building governance in high-growth environments from scratch.
• Presenting to Audit Committees/boards on privacy.
• Background bridging privacy and compliance (security, risk management).
