CNC Technician (Optical Fabrication)

What you will do

• Assemble cutting tools and set up CNC machines, tool holders, spindles, and tool changer magazines.
• Program CNC controllers manually and operate machines to manufacture precision optical-fabrication parts.
• Change tools and offsets to compensate for wear and keep parts within specification.
• Read ISO blueprints, create or interpret part programs, and measure workpieces using precision measurement tools.
• Document shift activities, communicate irregularities and continuing needs, and coordinate with operators, engineers, management, and other shifts.
• Identify bottlenecks, support process improvements, and maintain safe operations around high-value optics and specialized equipment.

Requirements

• High school diploma, trade school graduation, or GED required; an associate degree in machining is preferred.
• At least 6 months of experience working with CNC machines and equipment used in optical fabrication.
• Intermediate mathematics, computer skills, and familiarity with Windows 10, Microsoft Office, and SAP.
• Experience with micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and height gages.
• Ability to read written English work instructions, interpret ISO blueprints, communicate clearly, and work independently or in a team.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship and legally authorized to access controlled technology under U.S. export regulations.

Nice to have

• Prior experience with DMG, Hurco, or Siemens controls.
• Vocational manufacturing experience or certification.

Culture & Benefits

• Compressed schedule: 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and alternating Wednesdays.
• Work requires coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses, and gloves for the full shift in a clean-room environment.
• Potential exposure to lasers, magnetic fields, high voltage, chemicals, solvents, polishing slurry, moving machinery, cranes, and forklifts.
• Physical requirements include standing and walking, ladder and platform work, occasional campus movement, and lifting or moving up to 35 pounds.
• Travel may be required depending on business needs.
