Database Administrator (AI)

Location: Fully onsite at the office in Lisbon, Portugal; relocation support is available.

Salary: €55,000–€69,000 annually.

What you will do

• Design, implement, maintain, and optimize high-performance database systems for large-scale applications.
• Manage and fine-tune SQL and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, and DynamoDB.
• Improve performance through query optimization, indexing, partitioning, schema design, and data modeling.
• Monitor database health, capacity, availability, scalability, replication, and disaster recovery.
• Implement security policies, encryption, access controls, data governance, and GDPR compliance.
• Collaborate with developers and DevOps teams to integrate databases into CI/CD workflows.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar role.
• Expertise in relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server and/or NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Redis, Cassandra, or DynamoDB.
• Strong knowledge of database optimization, indexing, partitioning, replication, performance tuning, and slow-query troubleshooting.
• Experience with backup, recovery, failover, disaster recovery, and cloud database services including AWS RDS, Aurora, Google Cloud Spanner, or Azure SQL.
• Programming and scripting experience with Python, Bash, or SQL scripts, plus knowledge of database security and compliance.
• Experience with large datasets, high-traffic applications, and DevOps collaboration.
