What you will do
- Own end-to-end payroll operations for US and international employees, including processing changes and audits.
- Lead the transition from PEO to an in-house payroll platform and implement a new HRIS.
- Manage all payroll-related accounting, including journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Build and maintain a multi-state compliance program, managing nexus registration and tax filings.
- Partner with People Ops on compensation cycles, 401(k) updates, and benefits funding.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in full-cycle multi-state payroll processing.
- Hands-on accounting background with experience in journal entries, accruals, and month-end close.
- Experience building processes from scratch in high-growth environments.
- Working knowledge of US payroll tax compliance (941s, 940s, SUI filings).
- Proficiency with modern payroll and HRIS platforms such as Rippling, Workday, or ADP.
- Must be based in or able to work in a hybrid setup in San Francisco.
Nice to have
- Experience leading HRIS and payroll system implementations.
- Expertise in equity compensation accounting (SBC, RSUs).
- Experience working with global EOR platforms like Deel.
- CPA or equivalent accounting credential.
