What you will do
- Execute all U.S. payroll runs (weekly, biweekly, semi-monthly) with zero-tolerance for errors or delays.
- Manage and mentor a direct report, fostering a culture of accountability and operational excellence.
- Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws, particularly regarding California labor regulations.
- Partner with People, Finance, and Legal teams to streamline onboarding, offboarding, and compensation workflows.
- Lead the evaluation and implementation of a new global HRIS and payroll management platform.
- Collaborate with Accounting and FP&A on journal entries, account reconciliations, and headcount forecasting.
Requirements
- 7+ years of progressive payroll experience, preferably in a high-growth, mid-stage startup.
- Proven experience managing multi-state and multi-national payroll operations.
- Deep, practical knowledge of California labor laws, including wage and hour and final pay rules.
- Experience managing or mentoring direct reports in a payroll or HR operations context.
- Must be based in the United States.
- Proficiency in Rippling is preferred; experience with NetSuite is a plus.
