Senior Infrastructure Security Engineer (AWS)

TL;DR

Senior Infrastructure Security Engineer (AWS/Kubernetes): Implementing and maintaining security controls across AWS/Azure environments with an accent on EKS/AKS cluster security, cloud-native protection, and security automation. Focus on securing Kubernetes workloads, developing automated response workflows, and integrating security scanning into CI/CD pipelines.

Location: Must be based in North America (US and Canada). Hybrid expectation for those near hubs (Burnaby, Calgary, Toronto, Vancouver, Dublin, London, NYC, Sydney) to be in office min. twice per week.

Salary: $166,000 – $224,600 USD

What you will do

• Implement and maintain security controls across AWS/Azure, focusing on EKS/AKS cluster security, EC2 hardening, and cloud-native protection.
• Develop and tune rules for cloud-specific threats, manage GuardDuty/Defender integration, and build automated response workflows.
• Secure Kubernetes workloads, implement pod security standards, and integrate security scanning into CI/CD pipelines.
• Provide architectural guidance for securing user environments and maintaining a robust security posture.
• Investigate potential security incidents and serve as the initial incident responder.
• Partner with the cloud security manager to plan and develop the security team's roadmap.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in securing AWS environments.
• Hands-on expertise with Kubernetes and/or EKS, including autoscaling, CI/CD, and automation.
• Proficiency with IaC technologies like Terraform, Puppet, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
• Ability to program in dynamic languages such as Python or Ruby.
• Strong Linux experience and deep understanding of threat vectors, indicators of compromise, and emerging threat analysis.
• Must be based in the United States or Canada.

Nice to have

• Strong Azure and/or GCP security experience.
• Security certifications such as AWS Security Specialist, OSCP, CKS, GCPN, or CISSP.
• Experience with Ruby on Rails, Puppet, Terraform, and the ELK stack.
• Familiarity with container security tools including Falco, OPA/Gatekeeper, and runtime protection.
