TL;DR

Virtual Design Development & Validation Engineer (Body Systems): Leading the design and integration of vehicle body and closures systems with an accent on structural analysis and virtual validation. Focus on executing Finite Element Analysis (FEA) plans, optimizing architectural load paths, and developing process automation tools.

Location: Hybrid in Warren, Michigan (reporting to office at least 3 times a week). No immigration sponsorship provided.

What you will do

• Execute structural analysis to lead the development of new vehicle architectures and subsequent variants.
• Create and execute Finite Element Analysis (FEA) plans and manage CAE suppliers to meet program milestones.
• Recommend viable design solutions to resolve performance issues with mass and cost efficiency.
• Conduct topology optimization to identify architectural load paths and implement enablers into released math.
• Develop process automation tools to enhance the efficiency and quality of virtual methods.
• Collaborate with Product Development Teams (PDTs) and validation engineers to balance vehicle structure requirements.

Requirements

• BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• 2+ years of experience in Linear Analysis (NASTRAN/OPTISTRUCT), Quasi-Static Analysis (LS DYNA), and optimization tools (Genesis).
• Strong knowledge of Strength of Materials and Engineering Mechanics.
• Ability to work effectively in collaborative team environments.
• Must be authorized to work in the US without current or future immigration sponsorship.

Nice to have

• MS in Engineering.
• 4+ years of relevant CAE experience.
• Familiarity with UG-NX CAD and SDM/PLM systems like Teamcenter or IBM Rational Team Concert.
• Ability to write scripts in Python or C/C++ to automate simulation workflows.
• Participation in competitive teams such as Formula SAE, Baja SAE, or EcoCAR.
