Senior Engineer – Mechanical Systems (Robotics): Designing and developing core mechanical hardware for advanced robotics in manufacturing with an accent on robotic tooling, fixtures, and custom mechanisms. Focus on bridging concept development and real manufacturing applications to solve practical plant problems.

Location: On-site in Warren, Michigan (5 days per week)

What you will do

• Design mechanical systems for robotic and automated manufacturing applications.
• Develop detailed designs for end effectors, fixtures, structural assemblies, and custom mechanisms.
• Create CAD models, drawings, and engineering documentation using Siemens NX.
• Select and integrate actuators, guides, bearings, sensors, and pneumatics.
• Perform engineering analysis regarding strength, stiffness, tolerance, and failure risk.
• Collaborate with electrical and integration teams to support lab commissioning and plant trials.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience with mechanical systems.
• Proficiency in Siemens NX or similar CAD tools.
• Experience with tooling, fixturing, EOAT, or custom automation hardware.
• Must have valid US work authorization; GM does not provide immigration sponsorship.
• Willingness to work on-site full-time in Warren, Michigan.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience in automotive manufacturing, robotics, or industrial automation.
• Background in fixture design, weld tooling, or material handling systems.
• Experience with FEA, tolerance analysis, or motion system design.
