What you will do

• Define technical direction and evolve the architecture of large-scale, mission-critical systems supporting lab automation and workflow orchestration.
• Lead the strategic modernization of legacy and off-the-shelf LIMS platforms to cloud-native architectures on AWS.
• Build and review robust backend services and modern frontend applications using Python, TypeScript, React, and Next.js.
• Drive the adoption of Generative AI and ML capabilities to improve developer productivity and laboratory operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with Product, UX, Scientists, and Lab Operations to translate complex workflows into scalable, intuitive systems.
• Establish engineering best practices across performance, observability, testing, security, and operational readiness.

Requirements

• 12-15+ years of professional experience in software application development.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, NextJS, and TypeScript.
• Strong experience with SQL (MySQL or PostgreSQL) as well as non-relational and graph databases.
• Deep expertise in AWS services including Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, S3, and Glue, along with Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Experience with messaging frameworks such as Kafka.
• Must be based in or able to work from the Austin, TX office.

Nice to have

• Experience building custom Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) or Laboratory Execution Systems (LES).
• Experience with Lab Equipment and Lab Automation.
