TL;DR

Business Development Representative (Edtech): Generating a high-quality pipeline through research-driven outbound outreach to higher education institutions with an accent on personalized messaging and institutional research. Focus on setting quality meetings, collaborating with Account Executives, and leveraging AI tools to optimize prospecting.

Location: Hybrid: Must be able to work from the San Mateo, CA office 2–3 days a week

Salary: $65,000 + Equity + $30,000 Bonus

What you will do

  • Own monthly pipeline targets via strategic, personalized outbound outreach and inbound follow-up.
  • Conduct deep institutional research to craft high-value messages for registrars and provosts.
  • Secure 5–8 quality meetings monthly and maintain strong pipeline conversion rates.
  • Represent the company at 2–3 regional and national conferences annually.
  • Partner with Account Executives on territory strategy, account priorities, and handoffs.
  • Utilize AI and sales tools (Claude, Gong Engage) to increase prospecting efficiency.

Requirements

  • Strong connection to higher education (university experience, admissions, advising) OR 1–3 years in sales/business development.
  • Excellent concise writing skills and the ability to communicate effectively.
  • Proven track record of goal setting and follow-through.
  • Comfort with phone outreach and familiarity with CRMs and modern sales tools.
  • Must be based in or able to commute to San Mateo, CA 2–3 days a week.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with student information systems (SIS).
  • Previous experience within the edtech sector.
