Salary: $210,000 – $260,000

What you will do

• Design and lead the implementation of scalable backend architectures for enterprise applications.
• Build and maintain clean, ergonomic APIs to handle complex business logic and data flows.
• Develop and optimize SQL database schemas and queries to process terabytes of data efficiently.
• Drive engineering excellence by defining best practices, design patterns, and mentoring the team.
• Coordinate the prioritization of engineering-driven tasks alongside product roadmaps.
• Ensure system quality through robust testing strategies and CI/CD practices.

Requirements

• Previous professional experience as a technical lead.
• 5+ years of experience as a backend engineer operating at scale.
• Must be based in or able to work from the San Mateo office 3 days per week.
• Deep experience with high-level backend languages and frameworks (e.g., Python, Django).
• Strong proficiency in designing and optimizing PostgreSQL and complex SQL queries.
• Solid background in API design, versioning strategies, and asynchronous/event-based architectures.
