What you will do

• Design and own the billing platform and monetization systems that power agentic AI and paid experiences.
• Lead end-to-end feature development, from technical design to the launch of billing API abstractions for new SKUs and pricing models.
• Build and operate subscription, invoicing, and usage-based billing systems serving millions of users.
• Implement tiered SLOs, proactive monitoring, and alerting to ensure high reliability of revenue-critical systems.
• Collaborate with Finance, Data Science, and Growth teams to maintain auditable billing data and optimize global authorization rates.
• Develop internal tooling to enable Support and Finance teams to quickly resolve billing issues.

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Direct experience building or scaling billing, payments, or monetization systems.
• Deep familiarity with payment processors such as Stripe or Square, including webhooks and disputes.
• Strong backend engineering skills in Python and experience with distributed systems.
• Proficiency with relational databases, specifically PostgreSQL.
• Proven track record of cross-functional collaboration with Finance, Support, or Growth stakeholders.

Nice to have

• 2+ years of hands-on experience with Stripe APIs and SDKs.
• Experience with metered billing models for AI tokens or agent actions.
• Experience with Apple and Google Play in-app purchase systems.
• Familiarity with PLG/self-serve SaaS monetization and pricing A/B testing.
• Full-stack experience with Next.js, React, and TypeScript.
• Experience working at a fast-growing startup.
