Senior Python Backend Engineer (Python)

What you will do

• Lead the design and development of scalable Python backend services and REST APIs using Pyramid on AWS.
• Architect PostgreSQL schemas, queries, stored procedures, and performance optimizations for clinical-grade data.
• Build and manage AWS infrastructure using EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, S3, IAM, and cloud-to-cloud integrations.
• Define coding standards, API design patterns, security practices, testing strategies, and observability requirements.
• Mentor backend engineers, conduct code reviews, and guide engineering excellence.
• Coordinate with client stakeholders and drive agile project delivery from conceptualization through deployment.

Requirements

• Senior-level backend engineering experience with Python, JavaScript, SQL, REST APIs, and advanced PostgreSQL.
• Experience with AWS, Kubernetes/EKS, Lambda, Docker, OAuth 2, and cloud-native systems.
• Strong knowledge of SOLID principles, object-oriented programming, clean architecture, OWASP practices, and reliable production delivery.
• Experience mentoring engineers, conducting code reviews, and enforcing engineering standards.
• Proficiency in unit testing, integration testing, TDD, microservices, serverless architecture, and CI/CD tooling.
• English proficiency and ability to work remotely from the United States.

Nice to have

• Experience with clinical or healthcare data systems, including HL7, FHIR, GxP, or 21 CFR Part 11.
• Knowledge of TypeScript, Snowflake, SQLAlchemy, VS Code, and Pyramid.
• 6+ years of backend engineering experience, including 2+ years in a lead or technical lead role.
