Senior Human Factors Engineer (Healthcare): Leading the assessment and optimization of clinical informatics products and workflows with an accent on usability, safety, and human systems engineering. Location: Remote (USA). U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain a federal security clearance (Public Trust or higher) are required.
Salary: $140,000 - $165,000 a year

What you will do
- Serve as the principal SME and lead authority for all human factors engineering deliverables.
- Devise evidence-based designs and strategies to assess products and processes in clinical informatics and healthcare delivery.
- Analyze clinical workflows to identify user experience issues and risks often missed by standard unit testing.
- Conduct live usability sessions, synthesizing participant feedback into actionable recommendations.
- Translate technical findings into practical solutions for engineering teams and clinical leaders.
- Apply SAFe Lean Agile principles to promote organizational change and continuous improvement in system usability.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in human factors engineering, organizational psychology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in HFE or human systems design, specifically within healthcare or large-scale IT environments.
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain a federal security clearance.
- Proven expertise in applying organizational psychology and human factors research to product assessment.
- Comprehensive knowledge of HFE standards and regulatory requirements (FDA, AAMI, ISO/IEC).
- Demonstrated history of integrating human factors practices within SAFe Agile teams.
Nice to have
- Doctorate in HFE, systems engineering, or organizational psychology.
- Board certification as a Certified Human Factors Professional (CHFP).
- Experience leading HFE projects within VA, DoD, or other large federal healthcare organizations.
- Familiarity with federal health IT platforms (VistA, Cerner) and interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR).
- Documented contributions to the field via peer-reviewed publications or industry presentations.
