TL;DR

Legal Researcher (AI/Fintech): Manage corporate compliance and governance across US and Canada jurisdictions, conduct structured legal research on regulatory and product issues, and partner cross-functionally with Product and Engineering. Focus on driving resolutions for complex consumer escalations, building scalable AI-enabled legal systems, and proactive risk identification.

Location: Fully remote with optional onsite in offices (Toronto, Austin, Boston, Chicago, Durham, New York, Richmond, Palo Alto); compensation market-dependent on work location.

Salary: $65K – $100K + equity

What you will do

• Own corporate compliance and governance, proactively identifying risks and implementing preventive systems across US and Canada.
• Lead legal research and analysis on regulatory, consumer protection, and product issues, delivering actionable recommendations.
• Drive resolution of complex consumer escalations and regulatory inquiries, assessing exposure and spearheading training.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, and Operations to ensure features and policies meet legal requirements.
• Strengthen IP protection by monitoring infringements and supporting enforcement.
• Run compliance audits and build scalable solutions using AI, automation, and process improvements.

Requirements

• Strong legal background: Bachelor’s, JD, LLM, or PhD in law.
• Proven resourcefulness and driver mindset with innate need to close loops independently.
• Product and tech savvy, interest in AI/technology for workflow optimization.
• Impeccable attention to detail and organizational rigor for zero-error compliance.
