Archaeology Field Technician - Arizona

Location: Phoenix, AZ / Prescott, AZ / Arizona; fieldwork throughout Western United States. Residence in Arizona, Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Colorado or New Mexico highly preferred.

Salary: $20-25/hr, based on experience

What you will do

• Conduct archaeological pedestrian surveys
• Perform data collection using GPS, photographs, site forms, sketches
• Carry out subsurface testing and artifact identification
• Measure and record artifacts accurately
• Prepare high-quality field notes
• Work independently or as part of a team, including hiking up to 5-10 miles per day

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Archaeology, Anthropology or related field
• At least 6 months of archaeological field experience or field school
• Experience with archaeological survey and excavation
• Ability to work in difficult terrain and all weather conditions
• Valid driver's license; ability to use GPS, USGS maps, compass preferred
• Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (subject to exemptions)
• Pass drug & alcohol testing; lift up to 50 pounds
• Access to laptop for timesheets and reports

Nice to have

• Experience operating GPS units and navigating with maps
