Industrial Hygiene Technician

TL;DR

Location: On-site in New York, NY metro area. Must be willing to travel to job sites within the NY area, available for night/weekend/extended shifts, and possess valid driver’s license.

What you will do

• Perform air monitoring for asbestos abatement, lead, and mold remediation activities
• Investigate indoor air quality and water intrusion events
• Conduct job site health & safety inspections and routine site visits
• Collect bulk samples and create reports per state and federal protocols
• Develop reports, memos, and addendums for project management review
• Interact with management, contractors, coordinate meetings, scopes of work, and project schedules

Requirements

• High School diploma; minimum 2 years experience in asbestos, lead, IAQ, mold, industrial hygiene monitoring preferred
• Certifications: EPA AHERA/NYSDOL Asbestos Inspector, Project Designer/Monitor/Air Sampling Technician, NYSDOL Mold Assessor, NJ/EPA/NY Lead Risk Assessor/Inspector, and/or NYCDEP Asbestos Investigator
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Adobe)
• Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, state regulations for asbestos, lead paint
• Must pass physical exam, respirator clearance, pre-employment drug test, DOT random testing; valid driver’s license

Nice to have

• AS or BS in physical sciences, industrial hygiene, safety, environmental sciences, or engineering
• Additional asbestos accreditations (Management Planner/Supervisor/Project Designer)
• OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER
• Experience in IH-related work, non-IH environmental work, health/safety oversight, construction management
