TL;DR

Sustaining Hardware Engineer (Embedded): Manage component obsolescence, provide customer support, and develop re-spins of legacy products using latest market components to extend product lifecycle with an accent on re-designs, schematic/PCB creation, and verification testing. Focus on identifying requirements, conducting design reviews, reporting technical issues, and ensuring analysis and development activities are performed.

Location: Onsite at Colchester Office, UK. Subject to BPSS security clearance.

What you will do

  • Handle component obsolescence, customer support, and re-spins of legacy products.
  • Perform re-designs from requirements identification to final verification testing.
  • Create schematics and PCB designs meeting original requirements.
  • Report technical issues and progress.
  • Prepare and submit technical work for obsolescence management review.
  • Conduct design reviews including schematics and PCB layouts.

Requirements

  • 3+ years electronics engineering experience.
  • High speed digital circuit design.
  • Debugging skills.
  • Ability to meet BPSS level pre-employment screening for security clearance.

Nice to have

  • Experience with PC motherboard architecture (microprocessors 64bit, PCI Express, Ethernet, DDR4 Memory).
  • Programmable logic devices or FPGA.
  • Embedded software appreciation.
  • Experience with Intel or ARM chipsets.
  • MEng/MSc/BEng in Electrical/Electronics/Computer Engineering or equivalent.
